Hi, I'm Charlotte from AGDollDays, and here is my entry!

My idea:
I decided to make an outfit inspired by the hilarious snowman from Frozen, Olaf!

He seemed the obvious choice, given the contest theme. I decided to portray Olaf as a girl, even though he is a boy, because I have more design scope with girl’s clothing.

The cardigan – I’m going to knit a grey, upper - thigh length cardigan. I chose the grey because it is the colour of a snow cloud, of which he receives his own at the end of the film. I’m going to knit this from a thin grey yarn.

The shirt – A sleeveless, white, high-low shirt. This is to represent the middle “segment” of his body. I’ll sew this from a lightweight knit.

The trousers – Black and white checked trousers. The black to show the stones down his body, the white to show the last “segment” of his body. I’ll make this from quite stiff cotton.

The shoes – White trainers. These are to represent his legs. I’ll buy these.
The belt – Thick orange belt. This is a nod to Olaf’s carrot nose! I think I’ll make this from a thin girl’s belt.

The bracelets – These are to represent Olaf’s arms. I’ll make these from a girl – sized bracelet.

The hat – This is to represent Olaf’s head, hence the snowman face! I’ll crochet this, using thick yarn, and sew felt shapes on for the detail.

That is my basic plan, but I did end up making a few changes to that!

Making the outfit:

There aren't many pictures of the processes, because half of them got deleted when my camera broke.

For the hat, I crocheted a doll hat using my own pattern, from white cotton yarn. I used two looped buttons for the eyes. I simply cut the loops from the back with nail clippers, then glued them on with hot glue. For the carrot, I cut a rounded triangle from orange felt, and embroidered the ridges of a carrot onto it. I glued it on.

For the shirt, I used the LJC Tank Top pattern, and altered the back to make it into a high-low style. I wasted quite a lot of fabric making the back perfect! I hand sewed it all, and put Velcro in at the back.

For the trousers, I used a plain black fat quarter instead of a checked fabric (I couldn't find any small enough) and I used the LJC Yoga Pants pattern, and took in the legs to make them skinny jeans.

For the bracelets, I used an old faux leather bracelet of mine, and cut it into three inch pieces. I attached hook and eyes to the ends, so they would close.

For the belt, I used a child sized belt that I cut down to size. Because it was silver, I painted it several times in orange paint. Afterwards, I punched three holes in with a tapestry needle.

Finally, for the cardigan, I knitted it using grey wool and this free pattern. I had made one before, so I knew how many rows to lengthen in by to get to where I wanted it - 20, plus the ribbing rows. It took me a while, and I used grey buttons to fasten it.

Final Pictures:

These are a bit dark, but they are OK.

Thanks to Nora for hosting this contest, and thanks for looking!
